Podcasting

Hello, and welcome to the official podcast of the Westfield State University Women’s Hockey team. The start of the season is just around the corner! Sunday the 19th will be the first off-ice training session, followed by another on Sunday the 26th. Shortly after that comes the day we’ve all been waiting for- tryouts! The first night of tryouts is Tuesday, October 28th at 9pm at Amelia Park Arena in downtown Westfield. Prospective players should contact Coach Matroni before then. He can be reached via email or phone. The league is a little different this year with the addition of teams including Boston University, Boston College, Johnson and Wales, UNH, Colby Sawyer, Saint Anslem’s, and Keene State. Unlike last year, there are two divisions rather than just one and the top four teams from each side will make playoffs. We look forward to this new system and of course, new competition. Hopefully we can return to the championship round once again but this time pull out the big win! Our first game is Saturday, November 8th at 1pm at the Williston Arena in Northhampton. Hope to see you there!

Image Exercise- Item #5 (Free Topic)

Looking downstairs from the third floor
of Ely.

Apparently, my MacBook is very photogenic.

My friend Ali is one of the funniest, most
outgoing people I have ever met.

When she isn't goofing around, she can
always be found with some Dunkin Donuts
while on her computer.

Facebook Success Stories: Unhaggle.com

The car market is known to cause stress among shoppers. Usually, the car shopping process includes visiting countless dealerships and test driving multiple vehicles. Well, Canada thinks they've found a solution to end this hassle. Unhaggle.com is Canada's largest online new car marketplace. They used Facebook to advertise their stress-free, money saving company. Unhaggle.com has proved to be extremely successful reaching more than 1 million Canadians. Thousands have saved an average of $3,618 on their new car. The service provides buyers with free price reports on new vehicles all over the country. This allows buyers to get an idea on what other customers paid for the same car. This way, customers could have all the information they needed without being fed all the nonsense from dealerships. By using Facebook, Unhaggle.com was able to target their audience and embed its ads with links that sent customers to pages that could help them in their search.

Facebook Success Stories: Bing

When most people hear the term "search engine" they think Google. However, some may find it surprising to learn that Google is not the only search engine available on the Internet. Thanks to recent success using Facebook, Bing has proved to be just as good a search engine as Google. To get their name out there, Bing has integrated itself with Facebook and used it as an advertising strategy. Bing comes to us from Microsoft and its goal is to ensure that people "spend less time searching and more time doing." In the first two months of its campaign, Bing's popularity grew to more than 2.6 million users. They teamed up with social media agency Mr. Youth who helped them make their campaign that would make them look especially attractive to Facebook users. Bing's "Facebook for Business" success story reads: "On the first day of the campaign, Bing reached 31 million unique users, or 41% of its total audience of 18-34 year-olds in the U.S."
